Happy Finter {fake winter} Everyone!

I don’t typically put my lunch in a shared fridge, but I thought this was particularly funny for those that do. There are many commercials and shows that poke fun at the concept of eating someone else’s food at the work place. I just can’t even imagine opening a fridge and grabbing something to eat that I know I didn’t bring myself. But it must be a “thing” or else there wouldn’t be so many jokes made about it, right?

It’s be a while since my last post. I’ve taken my computer somewhere with me for the past 2 weekends, with the intention of typing one up, but it just never happened. For whatever reason, I just kept telling myself to put it off. But after a while I realize I want to delete all of the outfit pictures on my phone and that ends up being my motivation…sad, but true. haha. So let’s get those out of the way, shall we? Remember that Valentine’s Day week was in there so that would explain the heavy use of red and pinks this month.

I wanted to share a pair of cuff earrings that I bought on Amazon that I’m loving the look of. I’ve always wanted to get another ear piercing, but didn’t want to deal with it healing and sleeping on it. So I settled for a set of cuffs. They look like real piercings and are super comfortable to wear and use while on the phone. For 12.99 I highly recommend them. Very dainty and of great quality, especially for 2 of them.

I’d also like to recommend a set of packing cubes. I never really thought they would make a difference when packing, but I used them this past week when we went to Gatlinburg and I was a fan for how they seemed to organize the clothes we packed. I used them for my clothes and the kids’ clothes.

Since I mentioned Gatlinburg, I guess I may as well go there. The cabin we stayed at was super cute, but had fewer rooms than we typically get for 2 families. So it felt a bit more cramped than usual as far as overall accommodations go. And of course we forgot our blow up mattresses so the kids had to sleep on couches and loft mattresses. The Keurig was broken so I’m glad we packed ours just in case. There were limited utensils so we made due for making breakfast with random pans and spatulas, but with no can opener, couldn’t make a meal we had planned to make. Good thing we brought our own Firestick to watch bball games on ESPN Plus because none of the smart tvs had remotes that worked the apps. We could only watch cable. And since nothing the kids watch anymore is even on cable that was a bit inconvenient. We ended up being able to stream from our devices to the tv for the kids to be able to watch movies, but it was just annoying. How do you have a smart tv in every room, but not have “smart” remotes to operate them? The best part of the cabin was the bottom floor that had a pool table, foosball table, air hockey, and an arcade game. And the view was gorgeous, so there’s that. We’ve been going every year for about 4 years with the same family so we always have a good time with them and end up doing cool stuff in town, it was just the lodging that was a bit disappointing. The story doesn’t end there though…

Then we discovered the hot tub had a certain “slime” to it and the water didn’t seem very clean. So we had to have someone come out and drain it, scrub it, and add new chemicals. Still didn’t make that big of a difference, but some of the kids and Kenny gave it a try. Kenny smelled the little floating chemical thing and said he about passed out so I’m guessing they just shocked it and hoped everything was “clean.” The day after we got home Kenna had a UTI because she had used the hot tub. Awesome. I didn’t even realize you got those from hot tubs, but I guess that’s a thing too. I felt awful. The poor thing was in so much pain and had no idea what the hell was wrong with her. Luckily we got her right into the doctor and she was put on meds and is on the mend now.

Then 24 hours after that Jackson woke up and had bites all over his body that all of a sudden appeared. SERIOUSLY? Bed bugs?? We couldn’t really explain what else it could be. We literally washed every bed item and piece of clothing that touched the floor in Jackson’s room and that went with us on the trip. I inspected the bed and couldn’t find anything that even closely resembled that bed bugs had existed. I then steamed the mattress, just in case, and sprayed it with alcohol. Since we didn’t want to take any chances we had a company come out and check the house. Totally clean. So he definitely had something bite him while sleeping on the couches in the cabin. I contacted the rental company and the owners of the cabin to let them know how unsatisfactory the conditions ended up being. They said they would be happy to let the cleaning crew know. Really people? That’s it? A UTI for a 10 year and bug bites all over another guest, and that’s all you have to say?? Needless to say, I will not be recommending the cabin, A View to Thrill, to ANYONE! So, spread the word!

Kenna had her first volleyball event for her club team today and I am so excited for her. She had an absolute blast! Although I had to get up at 7am, it was worth it. She’s been texting and talking with her new friends from the team ever since we got home today and it makes my heart so happy. I’m still in contact with so many girls that I played with. I cannot wait for her to have similar experiences with these girls as she grows up. Just watching her play today gave me all the feels. Her team was assigned a “big sis” team so each girl has an older girl that is assigned to them to cheer them on. They came with signs with the girls’ names on them and gave them little gift bags. Cheered them on from the sidelines and you could just tell that the girls felt so special having them there. It was adorable!

At the end of the scrimmage they had the teams take pictures with their “sister teams” and that kind of stuff is just so special. It allows the girls to have role models to look up to and shows them what the sport might be like for them if they stick with it. I am just so excited for her to start this journey! Even if it means I don’t get to sleep in for a half a dozen upcoming weekends. LOL.

Shop St. Patrick’s Day!

I’m going to sign off for now folks. Try to enjoy what is left of this very pretty Sunday afternoon.
