It may not seem like a big deal to most people, but I have made a huge change in my spending habits lately. I haven’t made a purchase on my all time favorite site, jane.com, since February 19th. I purchased a couple of bathing suits from Amazon yesterday, but only because I had Amazon cash to put towards the order. The total for both suits ended up being $9. Prior to that, I haven’t made a purchase for myself on Amazon since February 18th.
Again…I’m sure that seems pretty easy for most people, but retail therapy is literally life for me. And when you follow bloggers constantly posting great deals on items you love…combine that with very little self control when it comes to anything to do with fashion or beauty products on sale…going 2 weeks without making a major purchase on frivolous items is a total win in my book! I’ve also listed for sale on eBay several of my handbags that I haven’t used in a while. Within 2 hours I had one sold. I’ve also sold a total of 15 clothing items since January 27th. 🙂 Yay me.
Just because I’m cutting back on spending doesn’t mean you have to though. One of my favorite things about following certain bloggers is that they take the time to find good deals and post them all in the same place for their followers. That way you aren’t just searching all over the internet for sales. And since I get spam from almost every retailer you can think of because of my shopping history…I am going to post some of the great deals I have received lately. Happy shopping!
All of the products above have a rating of 4 stars or higher. The brushes have an average 4.5 stars and have over 5,000 reviews! These are all Lightning Deals so they will not last long and once they are all claimed the deal is over. I’ve accidentally left deals in my cart and when I went to buy the item it went back to its original price before I could purchase. Whoops.
I have made several purchases from Amazon’s fashion department and I am always pleased with the sizing recommendations and the actual product. I’ve never had to send a piece back yet. I’m sure there are more available, I just included the first 4 that I would consider buying myself.
Before sitting down to write this post…I’ve spent most of my Sunday re-organizing our laundry room. One of my favorite forms of cleaning is organizing. I wanted to make more room for storage and repurpose some of the cabinet space we have. I’ll admit…we’re super lucky to have all of the storage we have in our laundry room. All of the shelving was there when we bought the house and it was a huge selling point for me. There are so many things I can keep in our laundry room that allow for easy access to so many things that would normally have to be in the garage or the basement. I’m including some pictures of our laundry room below. This is after I re-organized today. I also wanted to highlight a hack for hiding items under things that would normally be exposed.
If you notice the black and white chevron valance in 2 spots you’ll see the hack I’m talking about. I take a bungee cord and feed it through the valance and stretch it across the area I’m trying to hide. Now, instead of looking at “stuff” underneath everything, I see a cute fabric print. If you didn’t notice from the pictures, I love using plastic drawers wherever I can. This allows for so much more additional storage for things you need access to all of the time. In our drawers I am able to keep printing paper, bags and tissue paper for gifts, cards and envelopes, extension cords, etc.
I’ve learned the hard way that as soon as I throw something away that the kids bring home from school they somehow need it for something important. So I decided to use trays to keep all of their take home papers. After the year is over I’ll chuck them all, but we’ve had to dig through them a couple times this year to find a permission slip, test that needed to be signed, whatever.
I also keep things that need to be plugged in here. In one of the red bins you’ll notice we keep the kids chrome books plugged in here, our hand vac, a heavy duty pencil sharpener, and our printer. I have a surge strip hidden behind everything and I found a painted plank of wood in the garage that I laid across all of the shelving to create a flat surface for additional items I wanted to store.
The cabinets have everything from extra food that won’t fit in our pantry, to extra toiletries like paper towels and napkins, to cleaning supplies and books. As much as I can keep hidden the better!
I can’t end a post without highlighting some super cute items from Jane that I’ve purchased before and are now back up on their site.
As always…you can always check out Jane’s “Sneak Peeks” for items that will be released at midnight. You can favorite items so you don’t have to search and find them the next day to grab the deal.
I notice it has been snowing all day, but I’m not seeing much accumulation. I was hearing all kinds of talk about a “winter weather advisory” but this looks more like a winter wonderland that will melt and will just be nice to look at. Nothing that will actually affect my commute tomorrow or catch anyone a delay or a day off. It’s starting to feel like the days of wishing for snow days and ice delays is nearing its end. In a way that is disappointing, but then I start thinking about the weather getting warm, spring break, birthday parties, etc. and it doesn’t seem like such a bad thing!
That’s all I have for you today folks! Happy SMonday everyone. (Sunday + Monday since it is past 5pm it’s more like a Sunday than a Monday…Just didn’t want anyone thinking I made a typo! Lol.) Until Wednesday for some wardrobe ideas.
