Can anyone else relate? After I’ve come to the realization that summer is finally slipping through my fingers, I start to get excited at the thought of football season. Specifically, college football, but I’ll watch the NFL when it’s on. I’m just a huge college football fan. Not of a certain college, just ALL things college football. I love watching all of the ESPN pre-game shows and the Sunday morning recaps of all the action on Saturdays. I’ve even started to accrue some of my favorite college teams’ spirit wear here and there. I’m not a front runner for certain teams really, I just like the tradition and fanfare that surrounds some certain teams. And of course colors are important. I love LSU and all, but come on…I’m not purposefully buying purple and yellow gear to wear…I have to draw the line somewhere. I love following successful coaches and seeing where the ones that weren’t so successful end up. The whole season just gives me all the feels. But then I realize that baseball is still going on and I’m like, WHAT? END IT ALREADY! Lol…sorry Reds fans….
So I’ve been posting pics of our huge pool/deck project and we’ve actually gotten to a point where we can say, “It’s done.” We have some lattice to put up around the bottom and we’re still going to stain in October, but as far as functionality and all that jazz…it’s complete. Kenny put some sod down today on the parts that are so covered in dirt that every time it rains it’s practically impossible to walk anywhere in the yard, but the rest will just get seeded. I’m posting a video below of a “tour” of the deck as it stands now. It’s a different way to experience the project than just looking at pictures. Enjoy!
I’ve completed a few little projects around the house over the past week or so that I’ll show below. One of them involved a product that I saw on an Instagram ad. It was for slipcovers that go over chairs. I thought they would be super cute over my dining room chairs that we’ve had since we were married. Nothing was really wrong with ours so I can’t justify paying all the money for new ones, but at $8 a cover, it was worth a decorative change up. They took a little while to show up, but they are super cute! Totally satisfied with how they turned out. They look like completely new chairs. I couldn’t even tell you the name of the company. They were delivered from somewhere overseas. The PayPal receipt shows the payment going to “DeYuChengMaoYi,” if that tells you anything. LOL. But 8 covers for $55 was a bargain in my book!
I also started playing around with contact paper again. I used some on the fronts of our hardwood stairs in our entry and on the end caps of our counters in the kitchen. I just love using it to add some detail and decoration. I’ve been wanting to paint the inside entry door in our garage for quite some time. I want to paint it black because it’s white now and so dinged up and smudged, no matter how much I clean it. So…insert a black wood grain contact paper…It turned out pretty nice. It looks very realistic in my opinion. I’d rather have it be completely black, but because our door has cutouts in it the contact paper couldn’t stick flush to the areas that were cutout. So instead of having weird bubbles, I cut out the areas that had gaps. I forgot to take a before pic, but here’s what it looks like. I’ll link the product I used. I ended up needing 2 rolls of it.
Then I used a ship lap style contact paper to cover the really outdated refrigerator in our garage. It would be very cute on the fronts of stairs or cabinets as well, but I didn’t really have a certain place that needed it so I found one. It turned out so well! Definitely a better look than the tan color with rust pockets that was previously there. I also needed 2 rolls for this.
I’ve been dropping the ball a bit on taking pictures of outfits in the morning. Sometimes I don’t remember until I’m in the car on the way to work and I’m not a fan of taking the picture from the car or at work so it just doesn’t happen. But here are a few from the past 2 weeks.
I’m going to link some of my favorites from Jane and Etsy below. I have purchased so many holiday decorations from Jane over the years. Halloween is no exception. They have the cutest and unique items to add that finishing touch to your home for any holiday!
I’ve been loving my belted purse for work to hold my phone and walkie. I like it so much I purchased another one to mix it up. And I think this one will have a little bit more room for things. I might end up with a little collection of these. LOL.
I’ve raved about the site TheSisKiss before in blogs. I purchased my “name necklace” from them and have purchased headbands, earrings, other necklaces, leopard weekend bag, and a leather clutch from them. They also have a shop on Etsy, which I never knew about. I’ll attach the link below. It seems like all of the products they have on their site are also in their Etsy shop. If you follow them on Instagram you will find they post coupon codes from time to time to use on their website. Totally worth a follow!
That’s about it for now peeps. I’m going to finish watching the Bengals game and enjoy what we have left of this pretty dreary Sunday. It’s also Kenny’s birthday today so we’ll be helping him celebrate that as well. We went out for dinner as a couple last night which is always so fun. In true, “we’re old” fashion…I was passed out by 9:00pm in the garage due to the combination of cold medicine and beverages from dinner. Jackson brought home an awesome head cold from school last week and it has totally hit me the hardest. My voice sounds like I’ve swallowed sandpaper and I can’t stop coughing to clear phloem from my throat. Very hot. So I’m surviving on daily doses of nose spray and day/night cold medicine.
Enjoy the rest of your SMonday people!
