This meme couldn’t be more accurate. I love weekends that don’t consist of official plans. Kenna is camping with a friend so we didn’t go to her track meet on Saturday and other than a birthday party on Monday we haven’t had any official commitments and it’s been amazing! Just sleeping in and hanging out has been so refreshing. School is almost out and we’re definitely feeling the summer vibes already. Weather is hit or miss around here, but since we didn’t have plans that really relied on weather…it works for us! We spent a few hours at my dad’s property then the storms rolled in and we left. Since it was the first time we’d all exposed our skin to the sun it was probably good that we weren’t out for too much longer.
I haven’t said anything publicly about it yet, but we’re having a gigantic above ground pool installed in our backyard on Tuesday. A couple dozen boxes have been taking up half of our garage space for about 2 months and I’m about ready for them to go! We’ve always wanted to have an in-ground pool since we’re both in education, but we just couldn’t come to terms with the financial commitment. We’ve even had several quotes for them, but have just never pulled the trigger. Then one day this past winter we were out and about and decided to check out the sales that were going on. I always said that if we ever put in an above ground pool that a deck had to be built around it because I just didn’t like the idea of a pool sitting in the middle of our backyard. Not to mention that part of my dream of having a pool involves me sitting on the edge with my feet dangling in the water. You can’t really accomplish that if you don’t have a deck! So? We committed to putting in a deck and buying a 21′ x 43′ above ground pool. I still haven’t come to terms with how big this thing will be in the backyard, but I guess I’ll be coming to terms with it on Tuesday, right?
We’re getting pretty excited about being a “pool family” and having a reprieve from the heat right in the comfort of our backyard. No more paying for a pool membership or having to pack everyone up with a cooler to spend time at a pool. Which inevitably leads to someone wanting to leave early, someone else wanting more food than we packed, etc. Stay tuned to more stories about entire pool installation fiasco! I’ll be sure to take plenty of pics as the install is taking place.
Now back to your regularly scheduled blogging program…
I’ve recently stumbled upon a new subscription for leather earrings. Eleven 10 Leather has a monthly earring subscription service. You pay $25 a month and you get 2 pair of leather earrings delivered in various patterns. You can choose the size that you prefer (I chose large). I’ve had 2 deliveries so far and I’ve been happy with the patterns. They would also make great gifts if you kept them for later. I’ll link my referral link below and their Instagram account so you can follow them. The girl who started the company is super cute and it’s a great chance to support small businesses!

I posted a picture on my dad’s property earlier today and I had several compliments on my bathing suit bottoms. I stumbled upon the site Kingdom and State a couple of years ago and have been buying bathing suit bottoms from them since. They have adorable high-waisted bottoms that I highly recommend. I’ll link their site below. I probably paid more than I normally would for bottoms, but they are very high quality and worth it when you think about how important it is that you feel confident in your bathing suit! I order an XL if that helps anyone.
I hope everyone has had a chance to enjoy this long weekend so far. We still have Monday left and that is a glorious thing. I always feel like the Sunday of a 3 day weekend is like a bonus Saturday. Cheers to everyone that has already ended their school year and to those that have a few days left!
