I’ve never been a big, “New Year’s Resolution,” kind of girl. Sure, I like the concept of starting fresh and all that jazz, but I don’t like to make any harsh promises that I’ll “stop” or “start” doing something because then I’ll just be disappointed in myself when I end up not following through. But I guess that’s kind of the point, right? To make sure you follow through. I must be missing that part. But I did start blogging last year and I kind of made that my New Year’s Resolution and, here I am, still doing it. I’m definitely not doing it weekly, bi-weekly, hell…I’m lucky if I push one out monthly these days. When I started this journey, I never did commit to a certain number, it was just starting the process in general. So, I guess I can say that I’ve followed through on that at least. When I read other blogger journeys I’ve read that it took sometimes 5 to 7 or 8 years for a there to be any real following or feeling of “success.” That just seems like a ridiculous amount of time to me. I have no idea what I’ll even be doing with my life in that amount of time! And I’m not even sure what “success” would look like in my vision of blogging. At this point, I’m lucky if a dozen people even read my posts.
I’m embarrassed to even admit this, but I have had friends and family members that have said to my face, (literally right after I posted a blog on 3 different social media outlets a few days prior), “How’s the blogging thing going? Are you even still doing it? When did you start writing one of those? I’ve never seen it.” Or, I’ll reference something I wrote about and the person looks at me like they have no clue what I’m talking about and I have to say, out loud, “Oh…sorry, I wrote about that in my blog.” If your own family isn’t reading your blog posts?? That’s gotta be a pretty good indication that my blogging journey is off to a great start, right? LOL.
As much as I hate to take down holiday decorations, I do love the opportunity to freshen up my home decor. I used gift card money from Christmas and high tailed it right to TJ Maxx to pick up some new pieces for my built-ins. These built-ins feed right into my need to randomly change up the look of a room. It’s just so easy to move things around and give a space a new look. The pics below are of the main areas that I changed after taking down holiday stuff. And since we did a fake tree this year, we actually kept it up. It looks so pretty and we figured, why not keep it up until New Years? I’m going to attempt to just take off the ornaments and keep the ribbons and lights on it. I’ll let you know how that goes.
As far as outfit pics go… I really haven’t dressed up, other than for Christmas Eve, since we’ve been off. A lot of leggings, slippers, pjs and Uggs being worn over here on the Westside. And since I had my lashes lifted and dyed, I don’t even really have to wear makeup! I posted about that on IG after I had it done, but I’ll include a pic below as well. I’m about a week in and I’m definitely a fan. I’m going to ask if I can have them curled a little less “up” and more “out” the next time I go, but other than that, I am loving it!
I’ll include some pics from the holidays since I don’t believe I posted any online…and I’m going to go ahead and apologize for the really surprised look on my face for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. For whatever reason, it’s like my eyes didn’t know how to cooperate with my smile after I had my lashes done. It was very bizarre. But I clearly had something going on when you check out my face! I think it has since relaxed. haha.
Look at my eyes! OMG. I tried out my cousin’s lipstick for this pic…makes my teeth look whiter! Could I LOOK any more surprised?? WTH?
I just posted a picture of a chapter from the book, The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self Discovery I’ve been hearing a bunch of people online refer to their “Enneagram Number” and I was curious as to what it was all about. I love taking personality tests and all that stuff. So I took a free quiz online and it said I was a “1: Perfectionist.” But I really didn’t know much about it. So when a blogger I follow posted a link to the book and recommended it, I figured I’d order it and see what it was all about. Turns out…I’m pretty much a 1. I feel like I have many characteristics of other numbers, specifically, #2 The Helper and #3 The Performer. But, as a whole, #1 does feel more like me when I read the chapter on it. I love reading things about personalities types. I mentioned this in my last post, but the older I get, the more I am curious about myself and why I do things, what motivates me, what makes me truly happy, etc. Reading books like this helps to ground me a bit and really understand some of faults and how to reel them in and maybe even embrace them and use them to my advantage. Anyway…I recommend the book, or a book similar to it. I’ll link it below if you’re interested. Or if you message me, you can borrow mine!
Since I’ve had some time off I’ve found myself creating mini-projects for myself. I currently have a few items drying from black spray paint in the garage and I’ve ordered a few things to organize certain areas of the house that I’ve neglected (or ignored) to give my attention to. Being able to spend time at home really does make you take a look at all areas of your home. And since I can’t sit still for more than an hour or so, it motivates me to do things. I’ve even listed a bunch of items on Poshmark to clear out my closet and make some of my $$ back on things I either no longer wear or that I purchased, but never ended up wearing! I hate when that happens. I’ve sold 2 pairs of shoes so far and that was in a matter of 2 days, so I’m off to a great start.
What is everyone planning to do for the big 2020 NYE celebration tomorrow?? We’ve done the “weekend getaway” plans, “party at the crib” plans, the “neighborhood hangout” plans, etc. But for the past couple of years we’ve just made reservations at a nice restaurant with a couple we’ve been friends with years, maybe stop at a bar on the way home for a drink or two, and then head back to the house to ring in the new year with the kiddos. A nice mix of getting to dress up nice (this year we actually made reservations for The Precinct) but then really end up just relaxing at home for the New Year. However you are ringing in the new year, I wish everyone a fun and safe evening of time with family and friends. And of course, lots of delicious apps and drinks!
Here’s to my last post of 2019 everyone! Maybe I’ll get some more people to read my posts in 2020. Or not. It really doesn’t matter, does it? I’ll never really know just how many people take the time to read, so it’s pretty safe to say I won’t be disappointed if I don’t know! Ta-ta for now folks!
