Today was my first official day of summer without work. We leave for Hilton Head around 2am and we’re spending the day packing, cleaning, organizing our packing, etc. I’m one of those that likes to clean right up until the time we leave so when we come home it’s almost like a cleaning lady came while we were gone! It’s so satisfying to come home after a long vacation and know that you don’t have to immediately dive into any type of cleaning. All the laundry is done, floors are clean, bathrooms are clean, and the place smells clean! Best. Feeling. Ever.
I haven’t posted in 2 weeks so I figured I’d push my last post off until the day before we left. We are staying for 2 weeks so the summer will be practically over by the time we get home. Having all of July off is amazing so spending half of it in HH ain’t a bad way to spend your summer, right? I’ll spend the rest of it hopefully enjoying the pool deck that is currently in progress. It has been quite a construction project I will say. Kenny’s summer has basically been occupied with a summer job that is costing money instead of paying. LOL. We just keep visualizing all of the fun we are going to have once it’s all said and done…and just hope that it will all be done by the end of July.
Ok…outfit, product, and deck progress photos…coming up!
I have been meaning to mention the self tanning lotion from above and keep forgetting to. I have never tried a self tanner before, but wanted to give one a try since I have a hard time keeping color. And in the summer when shorts and skirts are being worn, it’s nice to have some color. I spent quite a while reading all kinds of reviews about the best, most cost effective, self tanner and this one from Jergens had the best reviews for the cost. Over 1,000 reviews at 4 stars was pretty good compared to the other products I was finding. And for under $10, I couldn’t pass the chance to try it. I also bought the glove because I was not about to have to worry about orange hands.
So…the tanner comes out in a foam, which I love, and is very easy to spread. You see results within about an hour. It doesn’t get on fabric (I put on right after I got out of the shower and before bed and I never saw marks on my sheets.) It smells very nice and the next day I can totally see a difference in my skin color. You can apply more than once if you want a darker tan, but one application was the perfect color for me! I steered clear of my knee caps, ankles, etc and that was a good idea. I highly recommend it and will repurchase when I finish this bottle. Totally worth the money. It even lasted through a couple showers/shaves. Pretty impressive.
Below are some pics of areas around my house that I have recently added some new decorations. I went to Hobby Lobby to buy some metal hooks for by the pool and walked out with a lot more. But everything I bought was 66% percent off or even 75% off. I think every item I purchased was even under $10. I struck gold that day!
Now for the pool/deck project update pictures. We are about ready to start laying planks for the top of the deck…it’s actually starting to be something we can envision. It’s definitely coming along!
That’s all I got for now folks. I’m getting ready to enter full blown vacay mode. I will be heading upstairs to do a fresh mani/pedi and begin to choose my outfits for the next 2 weeks. I’m sure you can imagine that the struggle is real for me when it comes to packing lightly. We have a washer and dryer so that makes it a little nicer, but I like to have a different dress for each night we go out. I lay them all out on top of each other and roll them all up to save space. My goal is to fit all of the clothes into one large Vera duffel and then one separate duffel for toiletries. I’ll sure to take pics of my packing performance for my next post!
