I know this sounds crazy, but I have always admired the Simple Human garbage cans I used to see at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They were ridiculous expensive as far as garbage cans go, but man were they slick looking! Then I started seeing them at Target, Home Depot, etc. I kept convincing myself that they were “just garbage cans” and moved on to buying other things I probably didn’t need 🙂
I’m sure you know where this is going, right? For the past few years we’ve had a stainless steel garbage can that clanked against the counter every time it was opened (leaving marks all over the lid) and since it was circular it didn’t quite fit against anything easily and kept scraping up against our white wall trim and leaving black marks that I couldn’t remove! Another thing I hated was that you could see the bag sticking out in between the lid and the bottom can (very ghetto.) So I started looking for garbage cans on Amazon and guess what kept coming up? The Simple Human garbage can line. They had the best reviews and fit all of the specs I was looking for. Covering up the bag, at least 12 gallons, stainless steel, pedal opening with soft close, rectangular, and of course a certain height and width.
As you probably predicted from the beginning…I ended up putting the most reasonably priced Simple Human can in my cart. For a couple days I kept looking at different brands and comparing them and with all of the great reviews I decided to just go for it! And it wasn’t even eligible for Prime delivery so you know I really liked it. It came about a week later and as I was getting it out of the box I noticed a small dent in the top lid! Seriously? I know that’s the risk you take when you order online, but really? I’d been waiting all week for this thing and now I have to send it back? So I hopped on Amazon chat (which is actually pretty awesome) and they arranged to have someone come pick it up and ordered another one. I tried to get them to express ship it, but that option wasn’t available. So this past Friday I heard a knock on the door around 5pm ( I actually had forgotten about it coming) and it was the new can.
Well? It’s gorgeous! And there were no dents! The picture of ours is below and I’ll link in the actual can from Amazon if you want to check it out. It has over 1,200 positive reviews!
In other news…my Kinsley Armelle cuff bracelets came in and they are gorgeous. Very solid and the design is so attractive. They are definitely a nice addition to any bracelet combination. I wore the combo below on Friday. All 3 bracelets are from Kinsley and were all were on sale.
Not that I haven’t always been a bit of a shopper, but lately it has even been worse since this whole new “blogging” journey. I love buying things and showing others how I wear them. I’ve always been so excited to tell other people about websites I shop on, deals I find online, or about specific items that are my favorites. So…what better way to do that than to buy all the things and then tell people about them, right? Well? It has gotten a little out of hand, even by my own standards. So…I’m making a pledge to myself that I’m not just going to buy things just because. I have plenty of clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc that I can still highlight and talk about. They don’t always have to be brand new. And since I’ve typed it on here I feel like I have to stick to it! So the UPS, FedEx, and USPS personnel are just going to have to deal with a little lighter of a load for a while. The only caveat is that there are things I have ordered prior to making this decision so some boxes and packages are still showing up. Whoops….but you’ve gotta start somewhere right?
I started selling clothes I don’t wear all the time on Poshmark and eBay a couple of years ago, but I’m going to start doing it a little more often as I take an audit of my current wardrobe. Might be nice to make back some of the money I’ve spent over the years. This whole “I don’t wear things twice thing during the school year” thing has gotten pretty expensive. LOL! I’m not changing my policy so I just need to get more creative!
